IDC-AIS Airborne transponder is a multi-purpose data link transponder developed for advanced CNS/ATM applications that depend on reliable and time-critical information.

The core function provided is Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) but other features such as point-to-point communication and various broadcast services are supported, enabling a wide range of applications including 4D Trajectory down links.

The transponder is intended for installation in commercial aircraft/ helicopters and operates in accordance with the ICAO standard for the Mode 4 digital radio link.

The form factor of the transponder corresponds to the Arinc 600 standard and includes Arinc 600 connectors and Arinc 429 interfaces. The transponder is certified and delivered with an EASA Form 1 tag. The equipment is used onboard aircraft for non-safetycritical applications.

Mobile transponders can operate autonomously outside the coverage of ground stations, whereas the addition of ground stations and a ground-based network provides enhanced functionality and capabilities.

The transponder supports services for all phases of flight such that a complete gate-to-gate operation can be realised including the following applications: departure clearance, 4D trajectory exchange, CPDLC, ATIS, and advanced surface movement, guidance and control operation. Services such as ADS-B, TIS-B, FIS-B and DGNSS augmentation (GNS-B) are supported by the transponder.
